Rocking K Ponies
With 3 little girls on the place we can't be without a few
ponies! From the mini they grew up on to the ponies we work on to sell .. the
Rocking K ponies deserve an honorable mention!
"Platinum" The Rocking K Teasing Stallion

This chocolate palomino mini stallion has an important (albeit
frustrating for him I'm sure!) job here during the breeding season. He is very
vocal and is the best teasing stallion I've ever worked with. My girls will be
breaking him to ride/drive this summer. He is a mini who was unfortunately not
registered by careless owners. Beautiful featured and small he would have made
an outstanding registered stallion.
"Dorito"

Dorito and his owner Juliee.

I wish this little horse could talk! By the looks of him he has
been around the block a few times. Another pony that the Great Expectations
Ranch of Pillager Minnesota saved out of the kill pen, this little Mexican horse
is branded in three places, the tips of his ears appear to have been lost to
frostbite, and despite having a bit of an aversion to gaits faster than a jog is
a wonderful pony! He has been the perfect transition pony; and this year Dorito
will probably be looking for a new little girl to teach as his owner Julieanne
will be moving up again.
"Tyke-Tyke"

Tyke the day he got here.

Tyke-Tyke came to us a couple summers ago. We got him over his
fear issues and let him "just be a horse" for a year before we restarted him.
Juliee will be putting more time on him this season and he will probably be
offered for sale in the fall. He is a medium red roan pony who will make someone
a great starter or leadline pony.
"Buddy," the leadline Pony

Bud looking unamused (left).
Last but not least there is "Buddy". The little Holstein
look-alike is a fixture on our farm. He has raised my 3 girls and seems glad
that his child rearing days are over! He sees no need for fences and generally
can be found wandering the yard sometimes tied to the swing set, the playhouse,
trotting behind a kid on a bike or pulling the little red wagon. If you are over
4 feet tall don't plan on getting close to him because you won't ... without a
serious chase. Ol' Buddy has earned his place here until he moves on to greener
pastures. (He has also earned a few rather colorful nicknames along the way!)

"Dolly"

"Dolly" is a pretty sorrel 2001 AQPA mare out of an outstanding
solid APHA Barrel/Pole mare and a naughty little welsh pony who got out of his
stall one night. This mare was untouched until she was ran into a trailer for 30
days of training as a 3 year old. I picked her up from that trainer and my girls
finished her.
She was bred to a small cremello AQHA stallion and gave us
"Diva" a beautiful dappled palomino AQPA filly in 2006.
Diva is being offered for sale.
We are currently stallion shopping for Dolly now though I may
decide to breed her to "Andy" for a mid 2008 foal.
"Dakota"
Dakota is a beautiful 2004 AQPA (pending) buckskin mare who was
an impulse buy from "Great Expectations, The Second Chance Ranch" of Pillager,
MN. My girls will be starting her this spring. She has a wonderful disposition
and has not balked once at anything new we have thrown at her. I can't predict
the future .. but I'm pretty sure this filly is going to be a keeper.
Photo's coming soon.
